The View from Our Corner of The Street
Greetings from AMD!
In 2017, AMD launched our strongest product portfolio in more than a decade, including more than 50 Ryzen CPUs and APUs, Radeon graphics cards, and EPYC server processors combined. And, we’re already seeing progress across these markets as evidenced by our Q4 and FY 2017 earnings results, and recently reinforced by Mercury Research’s Q4 2017 market share data report for both x86 processors and graphics.
- In desktop CPUs, we saw an uptick of 2.1 share points year over year, driven by our high-performance Ryzen family that delivers leadership multi-threaded performance at every price point.
- In server, AMD server share more than doubled, increasing ½ a point year over year, indicating growing traction for our EPYC server processors.
- In graphics, Radeon Vega brought AMD back into the enthusiast graphics market, and helped drive a massive 6.3 share point gain in just one quarter, and 4.1 share point gain year over year.
We’re extremely proud of these gains and have a busy 2018 planned, with the ongoing ramp of our 2017 portfolio and many new products launching – including our Ryzen Desktop APUs, Ryzen 3 Mobile APUs, and EPYC and Ryzen Embedded processors already released this quarter – as we continue on our path to high-performance computing leadership.
We look forward to sharing more news with you soon.
