Basis Of Presentation And Significant Accounting Policies consolidated financial statements of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. and its subsidiaries (the Company or AMD) have been prepared in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Comparability Of Prior Year Financial Data

In the first quarter of 2011, the Company changed the method of accounting for its investment in GLOBALFOUNDRIES Inc. (GF) from the equity method to the cost method of accounting. Therefore, the users of the Company's financial statements should consider the effect of the change to the cost method of accounting when comparing the current period to the periods in 2010.

Fiscal Period The Company uses a 52 or 53 week fiscal year ending on the last Saturday in December.
